This map is famous and much sought by collectors as the first map of Australia and New Zealand by an Englishman.
One of the text plates draws on Purry, a Dutchman who was trying to promote settlement in Nuyt’s land (S Western Australia) “It is impossible to conceive a Country that promises fairer from its situation, than this of Terra Australia; no longer incognita …”
Image size 372x418mm(14 5/8 x18 7/8 in). Uncoloured (as always). Very good condition. Right hand bottom corner of margin missing (with no loss of printed surface). Skilful repairs to bottom margin. Left margins skillfully reinforced. No text on verso. $7500.00
